Still looking for a special way to propose to your dearest? Or no clue for an extraordinary gift to surprise your best friend or your parents with? Feelings like “I Love you”, “Marry Me” or “Thank you” can from now on be expressed through sweet sayings branded on chocolate candy.

In 2005 Mars Inc. launched a web-based M&M configurator which allows customers to put a message on the world’s most famous tiny chocolate candies. In three easy steps, user can create their own special, customized sweet gift.

The first stage lets customers choose from 17 different colours to paint their M&M in their two favourite ones. To help customers with their decisions, the colours are categorized into special occasions and themes, like weddings, Hanukkah, spring and many more.
Once a selection has been made, the candy can be personalized by writing a message on it. The message can be two lines long, with a maximum of 8 characters each. However, only one side of each candy can be branded with a message. Nevertheless, as customers design their candies, they can watch their M&M candy, displayed in oversized form, take shape in real time.

The second step encourages customers to select gift-boxing appropriate for the occasion, offering a wide range of packaging options. Finally, the last step guides users directly to the shopping cart: approximately two to three weeks later, the sweet seduction arrives at the customer’s home.

This colourful and simple configurator makes everybody’s sweet dreams come true. It is hugely entertaining to create one’s own, personalized candy in such an enjoyable fashion, as if to say “A chocolate a day keeps bad spirits away and makes happy!”
